Health Risk Assessment for Multi-layer Soils in a Compound Chemical Contaminated Site

  • Risk assessment is an important issue in redevelopment of contaminated land. Due to the different attributes and sources, there are obvious layered characteristics for residual pollutants in soil. With a compound chemical contaminated site soil remediation as an example, the health risk assessment for multi-layer soil was carried out by RBCA model from the American GSI company. The risk status for the main pollutants in different layer of soil was obtained. The results showed that there were both carcinogenic and non-cancer risks in the contaminated site, but mainly with organic carcinogenic risk. According to the results of the risk assessment, the subsequent projects of remediation for the contaminated site can be established, enhancing the remediation effect and saving the cost of remediation.
