Abstract
The Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) can well measure the relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution. Based on the EKC theory, a quantitative analysis of the relationship between the economic growth and the resource consumption and environmental pollution in Tieling city was performed. It was found that the U-shaped curve exists between industrial freshwater usage, smoke dust emission and per capita GDP; the inverse U-shaped curve exists between wastewater discharge, SO2 emission and per capita GDP; the left section of U-shaped curve exists between COD discharge and per capita GDP; industrial solid waste generation, on the whole, increases with per capita GDP growth. According to the development actuality of Tieling city and based on industry structure, cleaner production and circular economy, some countermeasures and suggestions were put forward, including promoting recycling economic, expanding the third industry and optimizing the incremental capital, to promote coordinated development of economic growth and resource and environment.
