Abstract:
Non-ferrous metal smelting industry has large carbon emissions and heavy pressure to reduce carbon emission, among which lead smelting industry is particularly prominent. Currently in China, half of lead products are from the recycling of lead-containing waste, which is one of the dominant sources of carbon emission. To understand the current situation of carbon emission reduction in the lead-containing waste recycling industry in Hunan Province, we selected a lead-containing waste recycling enterprise as the research object and calculated its carbon dioxide emissions from different sources and processes in 2023 with references to the accounting methods and reports guidelines of greenhouse gas emissions for the industry. The results showed that the largest proportion of carbon emission in this enterprise was the emission of energy used as raw materials, followed by the emission of net electric power purchase. Meanwhile, we compared the carbon dioxide emission factors of three lead-containing waste recycling enterprises. It was shown that the use of clean energy, the development of waste heat recovery, and the promotion and application of advanced smelting technology could significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which were effective ways to improve the carbon emission reduction effect of lead-containing waste recycling enterprises from the source. Finally, we suggested that the lead-containing waste recycling industry should accelerate the popularization and promotion of clean energy and advanced technology, and promote the industry iteration and upgrading.
