Soil pollution characteristics and health risk analysis of typical logistics storage decommissioning sites

Abstract: In order to explore the characteristics of heavy metal pollution in the soil of logistics storage sites and their potential impacts on human health, the decommissioning site of logistics storage in the suburbs of a northern city was taken as the research area, the soil pollution levels of four sample sites were detected and analyzed, and the accumulation degree of pollutants and environmental health risks were further evaluated. The results showed that the concentration of heavy metals in the soil of the four sample plots did not exceed the standard value of the second type of construction land of Soil Pollution Risk Control Standard for Soil Environmental Quality Construction Land (Trial) (GB 36600-2018). However, the concentrations of some heavy metals, especially Pb and Hg, were higher than the regional background value. Furthermore, the comprehensive accumulation index of heavy metals in the four sample plots was more than 1, indicating that logistics and warehousing activities had a certain impact on the soil environment in the region. Environmental health risk assessment showed that the total carcinogenic risk of the four plots was higher than 1×10−6, which was an unacceptable level, and further attention should be paid to the potential human health damage caused by pollution. The results could provide important scientific data for the prevention and control of soil pollution in logistics warehousing sites, as well as the identification and management of potential risks.
